So much happens when we sleep. Other than all the cognitive and physiological activities taking place during our hours of slumber, we can decipher certain interesting details about our men through their bedtime body language.
The quilt hogger
Are you one of those people who finds themselves cold and ‘quiltless’ in the middle of the night? You look over and see your partner nicely cocooned in the duvet? Here we need to watch out for selfish/insecure tendencies. The cocooned caterpillar may have issues with insecurity by completely covering himself up, without considering your needs.
Face down sleepers
Research believes that these people are outgoing. He is likely to have many friends, does not like routine and uses up his battery to the last second before crashing face down. Interestingly this person is described as quite traditional and likes to be the one in charge in a relationship.
Face up sleepers
These guys are the snorers of the bunch due to the position they choose to sleep and therefore get the least amount of quality sleep. He tends to be confident, yet reserved and sometimes more introverted. He can be a reflective ‘dreamer’ and enjoys the time spent falling into slumber. He does not feel threatened or have the need to cover himself and that’s why this position is referred to as the soldier position.
Sleeping on his back with his hands raised
This is known as the star fish position and people who sleep this way have been described as helpful, great listeners who like to be in egalitarian relationships. His family and friends are very important to him and he is affectionate and open to new experiences. Sounds like the ideal man!
Side sleepers
Also referred to as the fetus position, women are twice as likely to sleep like this and it is the most common position. These sleepers are said to have a tough exterior but are still sensitive and may appear to be shy, but warm up quickly. They are flexible people who will compromise if necessary, and tend to have quite balanced relationships with lots of love and affection.
Log position
If your guy sleeps on his side with both arms down he is social, easy-going and trusting, sometimes to the point of being gullible. Research shows that they are usually followers in a relationship and like to relinquish control to the more dominant person. He is not argumentative and tends to surrender his point quite easily.
Yearner position
He sleeps on the side with arms stretched out. Yearners are noted to be open-minded but cynical, suspicious and stubborn. He can feel insecure in relationships and may need lots of reminders about how you feel, as well as being given tokens of appreciation. He is also prone to resentment and bitterness. Ones to avoid!
Restless sleepers
He tends to block or repress issues throughout the day and therefore may wrestle with issues while sleeping or trying to sleep. Excessive movement at night prevents him from feeling rested and rejuvenated and he wakes tense and groggy. You may find he is secretive and unable to talk openly about his feelings. He can be a game-player when it comes to relationships and his restless sleep may indicate loneliness and a disconnection from loved ones.
