Hamas political advisor to the prime minister Yousef Rizqa on Thursday
said it is unlikely that the Egyptian army would launch a military
offensive on the Gaza Strip.
The geographical and historical depth between the two countries precludes such possibility, Rizqa told the Hamas Al-Ray news agency. He accused the Palestinian Liberation Movement (PLO) of promoting this idea to create hostility between Egypt and Hamas.
We are in constant contact with the Egyptian intelligence service to refute such false media reports, he said. Yet it seems Hamas has, like the Brotherhood, been demonized by Palestinian elements linked to the embassy in Cairo and parties loyal to the new regime.Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm
