Are Lipsticks Safe to Use?

We all love to look sexy and glamorous in red hot lips, or blush pink summer pouts but could it be taking a toll on our bodies? Could lipstick be a cause for cancer or is it just a hoax?

Many researches revealed that lipstick contains elements and traces of fish scales, lead, and aluminum which in large quantities can be a cause for cancer. Did that stop women from pouting and wearing lipstick? Of course not! But should it?

The FDA has tackled the issue on their website by answering a few questions and providing evidence that it shouldn’t be a problem since the amount ingested from wearing lipstick is almost negligible. They stated that the total amount of lead from 400 lipsticks combined, lies in the acceptable range of lead in consumer products and since we don’t eat lipstick (well, most of us at least) this shouldn’t alarm us.

So are they safe to use? Well, if you don’t apply lipstick to lick it off, then yes. However, applying lipstick on your little daughter can raise a flag since small bodies deal differently with the metals coming in from the lipstick.
